Her phone went off again, a minor reminder a text was waiting. She felt a prickle of curiosity. Maybe it was Joseph? Maybe she forgot something at the drug store? Was it work calling? The trip to Ishtar had been Ichika’s idea. She’d gotten the role of “Desert Princess” in a B-Movie filming there, and she’d suggested that the rest of the sisters go with her as a sort of last-school-year vacation. And, of course, Fuutarou should go, so he could tutor them in the many historical sites and cultural niceties of the area. So far, though, Fuutarou had spent surprisingly little time tutoring. In part, this was because the girls had spent most of their time visiting different markets, spas, and restaurants. They’d even invited the pilots, Jeanne and Megan, who’d flown them here, to come along with them and party. Fuutarou had accompanied them, and repeatedly expressed bewilderment as to why the girls kept trying on new outfits and demanding his opinion of them. Fuutarou Uesugi was a genius, but he was also an idiot. The other reason was that Ichika was nearly always away shooting for her film, and Fuutarou stated he was tired of teaching assignments

Her hands moved over her body. It felt foreign to her, somehow. But she had not the luxury to explore this peculiarity further because a sudden urgency clutched her belly. It was a tip-of-the-tongue feeling. And it prickled the back of her mind. It commanded her to remember something, and it commanded her to remember that something quickly because she knew, in the way that one just knows, that her memory lapse was a gravely dangerous thing.
